The keyboardist who played for years at El Dorado Restaurant is now at Khoury's on Thursdays; the Maloof West Coast Swing group that formerly met at Khoury's is no longer there (the parking cost was damaging their attendance, and now the parking is a bit lower cost again); Khoury's is no longer having bands for dancing or atmosphere as they once did; the Bellydance show on Sundays by Mirage Belly Dance Duo [Entertainment tab] is gone, and Tonya and Atlantis present a showcase on Wednesdays.

Time Magazine, "Belly-Dance Boom" -- Sunday, Mar. 27, 2005 Which begins: "Fahtiem is a master belly-dance instructor with no wiggle room in her schedule. She gives private lessons at her Los Angeles studio seven days a week, teaches at two colleges and is employed by three cities to offer group classes at their recreation centers. "I have enough work to keep me busy almost all day, seven days a week," she says."
Fahtiem teaches classes at Wardlow (Mondays), Pico Rivera (Tuesdays), Lakewood & Montebello (Wednesdays), La Mirada (Thursdays), Long Beach City College (Fridays), plus others out of the LB area.
Taji, a winner of the Belly Dancer of the Universe competition, teaches classes at Fairfield YMCA (Tuesdays), performs at Babouch in San Pedro (Thursdays), and the San Pedro Sheraton (Wednesdays).
Tonya and Atlantis, a mother-daughter team, organize the Belly Dancer of the Universe Competition at the Long Beach Convention Center - the next one, the 20th annual, is February 13-14, 2010. Tonya and Atlantis (on Pink Gypsy) also of course perform and teach classes, occassionally in Long Beach. Tonya teaches at Cypress College (Fridays) and Cerritos College (Saturdays) and other places out of the LB area.
The most famous Bollywood studio in the country; focuses on children and performance but does offer a couple of adult recreational classes taught by their own staff
Pink Gypsy Bellydance is an extraordinary resource for Bellydance (as are some other portal sites for Bellydance) and it is focused on Southern California; the Bellydance Classes and Teachers list is seemingly both comprehensive and up to date (a very difficult feat).
